Dandu Monara

Dandu Monara (Flying Peacock, Wooden Peacock) was a flying machine built by King Ravana (Sri Lanka). According to Hindu beliefs as told in the epic tale Ramayana, King Ravana used the "Dandu Monara" to abduct Queen Sita from Rama.

Dandu Monara is a Sinhalese word. In Sanskrit this flying machine is called Pushpaka Vimana.

According to the Ramayana, the "Dandu Monara" landed at Werangatota, about 10 km from Mahiyangana. It is the hill station of Nuwara Eliya in central Sri Lanka.
